Liam Patterson-White took a blistering 4/12 in his five-over stint at the back-end of the day, including back-to-back dismissals of Morley and Brookes, with wickets also for Olly Stone, Saif Ali, Tom Loten and James Hayes.
Openers Ben Martindale and Freddie McCann then partnered to put 78 runs on the board before the former was dismissed for 30, Notts posting 101/3 at the end of the first day's play.
