James Pattinson says Notts Outlaws' dramatic One-Day Cup Final win was the perfect ending to his spell at Trent Bridge.

The Lord’s showpiece was the Dandenong Destroyer’s final game for Notts before he flies back to Australia.

But Pattinson, who took 1-48 with the ball before hitting the winning run and finishing on 9 not out, insisted it was the perfect end.

The victory was inspired by a Lord's-best one-day innings of 187 not out by Alex Hales that saw Notts successfully chase 298 for victory.

“Playing cricket at Lord’s it’s a special occasion, but to win it is even more special,”  said Pattinson.

“The boys all performed really well, especially Alex Hales. It was a fantastic knock, and Chris Read (who blasted 58) was also fantastic.

“It was a pretty special day all-round and a great way to finish my stint with Notts.”

“To be top of the County Championship at the moment and to win the one-day final is pretty special.”

Pattinson believes that the nature of the Outlaws win at the Home of Cricket makes it that much sweeter.

After scoring 429 at Somerset in the quarter-final and then completing a record-breaking run chase of 371 in the semi-final against Essex, Notts recovered from the precarious position of 150-5 in the final.

“We lost all three tosses in the knock-out matches and we’ve gone the hard way about doing it,” he said.

“We just scraped through the group stages and the team that does that usually goes on to win it. We’ve done that here, so it’s been fantastic.

Before joining Notts in April, the Aussie speedster never dreamed of having this much success in such a short space of time.

He said: “I’m just grateful for the opportunity to come over and play some county cricket, I’ve always wanted to do it.

“To be top of the County Championship at the moment and to win the one-day final is pretty special in my time here and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.”

“Everyone’s put in 100 per cent and I’m really proud of all the boys.”
