Nottinghamshire supporters will be able to welcome Australia’s Dan Christian back at Trent Bridge during 2017. The all-rounder returns to the county for the third season in succession, looking to emulate last summer’s heroics.
As skipper, Christian led the Outlaws to a record-breaking nine consecutive victories in the NatWest T20 Blast competition, a run eventually ended on Finals Day.
The former international averaged 41, with three half centuries and an explosive strike-rate of 159.51, as his fearless leadership style delighted fans and galvanised team-mates.
Born in New South Wales, he has played for his home state, South Australia and Victoria, as well as a number of different Big Bash franchises.
Injuries to his countryman, Jackson Bird, enabled Christian to make three first class appearances for Notts last year but his most spectacular performances for the county have come with the white ball.
In 15 List A outings he averages over 50, with seven half centuries in just 12 visits to the crease.
His stand-out performances in that format for Notts have come against Warwickshire.
He claimed figures of five for 40 against the Bears in 2015, at Welbeck and clubbed a brutal 94 from only 47 balls at Trent Bridge against them last summer.
Christian hit a 16-ball 50 against the Leicestershire Foxes in the Blast in 2016 and that sort of hitting is sure to delight the crowds once again this year.
